The Hotel Nacional is considered to be the land mark of Cuba. It is a hotel of 448 rooms (15 suites) that was built in about 1930 but which has recently been totally refurbished with about a $64 million program. Most say it is the most beautiful hotel in all of Cuba. Great people like Winston Churchill, the Prince of Wales and Marlon Brando have stayed at the Nacional. It is perched haughtily on a cliff overlooking the Malecon with a post card view of Havana harbor. Most of the rooms have ocean view. The rooms are large and well appointed with cable TV; telephone, safe, and self-service bar. There is an Executive floor, housing 63 specially appointed rooms and suites. The Comedor de Aguiar restaurant serves good Cuban and continental dishes. Le Parisien Club hosts one of the hottest cabarets in town. There is a large swimming pool, tennis courts, boutique, beauty salon, spa and a tour desk in the lobby. The hotel stays pretty full, so if you would like to spend some time there, book as early as possible.
